On Friday the Wiltshire Spiritual Direction Course restarted after the Summer break with a residential weekend at Ivy House on the Enneagram. It was great to be together as a learning group again, but I was suspicious of the Enneagram having heard comments from those who did not like it. Also, after the "high" of the Llysfasi Spirituality Workshop I was not expecting great things.
Instead, I was encouraged and moved by the experience.
I have found methods of understanding personalities helpful, and been a particular fan of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator. However this seemed much deeper, as it looks at the basic motivations of 9 different personality types. As such (and perhaps uniquely) it has a healthy spiritual dimension to it. I found it transformative at a personal level, and both the framework and the detail give me useful insights for my work.
